The other night, my husband Erich and I were talking about the concept of having a word for the year instead of having resolutions. I have had words for the year before, and asked the Lord to give me one for 2015. The very next morning I was talking on the phone to my mentor and, without me telling her about my conversation with Erich, she said my word for the year should be balance. I was taken aback, and told her that I had just asked the Lord to give me a word for the year. This was a very clear answer. She helped me to see that I need to learn (among other things) how to balance my business life and my time with my son. She suggested that I look up Bible verses that pertain to balance. She suggested that I set my bottle of grounding blend essential oil blend where I can see it. I am looking at the bottle as I write, and have just put it on. This blend helps you to be grounded and in the present moment, to set goals and do what is necessary to achieve them, to follow through.
After my conversation with my mentor, I began to doubt that the Lord had given me the word balance. So I asked Him to confirm it. That day, as I was reading, the word came up again and I knew that it was the Lord confirming that this is the word that I am to focus on this year.
I looked up verses on balance and Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 was the first on the list. It reads
There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven; a time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to uproot, a time to kill and a time to heal, a time to tear down and a time to build, a time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance, a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them, a time to embrace and a time to refrain, a time to search and a time to give up, a time to keep and a time to throw away, a time to tear and a time to mend, a time to be silent and a time to speak, a time to love and a time to hate, a time for war and a time for peace.
One thing I believe that the Lord wants me to know is that this present time is a time for me to focus on enjoying our small child. He is such a joy and I am so fortunate to be able to stay home with him, teach him, and love on him.
I will be exploring the word balance throughout the year and will share what I find. Please leave a comment and let me know what the word balance means to you.
